BBC’s Magical Mystery Tour: Now Featuring Open Antisemitism!

BBC’s Magical Mystery Tour: Now Featuring Open Antisemitism!

Welcome, dear readers, to yet another proud moment for British media!
The BBC — trusted broadcaster, national treasure, global voice of reason — has apparently been outsourcing journalism to blatant antisemites with Facebook pages from 2011. Because, why not? It's not like credibility matters anymore, right?

Yes, meet Samer Elzaenen, a BBC Arabic regular who apparently thinks Holocaust jokes are the new edgy content for reporters. According to his public posts (you know, the ones anyone could Google in 30 seconds), he’s been casually suggesting that Jews be burned "as Hitler did" and calling murdered children “on their way to hell.”

Charming. Very impartial. Exactly the kind of guy you want giving live reports, right between weather updates and travel delays.

BBC’s Response: "Oopsie!"

When confronted, the BBC bravely responded with the classic We Didn't Know Defense™.
Because clearly, when you're hiring freelancers to report from one of the most volatile regions in the world, the last thing you want to do is check their public social media accounts for open calls to genocide.
I mean, who has time for that level of vetting? There's latte art competitions to attend!

Besides, it’s not like this is the first time! BBC Arabic contributors have been found before "liking" Hamas attacks and calling Israelis "devils," but don't worry — no actual action was taken. After all, accountability is so 2010s.

A New BBC Slogan?

At this rate, the BBC might as well rebrand:
“BBC Arabic: Eyewitness Reports, Hot Takes, and the Occasional Hate Speech — All Funded by You, the Taxpayer!”

Or maybe:
“BBC World Service: Now with 30% More Unchecked Extremism, Absolutely Free!”

If you squint really hard, it’s almost heartwarming — like a massive corporate game of How Low Can We Go? Spoiler: lower than the London Underground at rush hour.

Lessons Learned? (Don’t Hold Your Breath)

According to the BBC’s noble declaration, there's "no place for antisemitism" on their services.
Sure, there’s no place for it — unless you freelance, pop in occasionally, and just happen to broadcast live from Gaza. Then it’s more of a suggestion than a policy.

Meanwhile, back at the Ministry of Common Sense, the rest of us are wondering:

Maybe, just maybe, people who call for Holocaust 2.0 shouldn’t be holding a microphone on international news?

Maybe, if you pay a TV license, you should expect better than live hate crimes during the 6 o'clock news?

Just a thought.
